KBB Music Festival in association with The EdgeŽ Public Programmes

Fringe Festival 2010

Groups that may be in a more 'developmental' stage and do not wish to participate in the competitive section of the festival may instead apply to participate in the KBBMF Fringe Festival. Priority will be given to secondary school groups that are slightly outside the categories of the festival (e.g. stage bands without all the required instruments, smaller novice orchestras, etc).

The aim is to provide encouragement and constructive feedback that stimulates better music-making, with a view to possible full festival participation in future years.

The 2010 KBBMF Fringe Festival will be held in the Auckland Town Hall and/or Concert Chamber during the day on Friday 27th August. Participating groups will be allocated a 20-minute performance time, followed by a 20-minute onstage workshop with an experienced musical director appointed by the KBBMF. Groups will receive written comments, but will not be judged against a competitive scale.

Places for the KBBMF Fringe Festival will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, subject to the administrator receiving the entry form, stage plan and entry fee. Please use the appropriate entry form. Note that preference will be given to ensembles with 12 or more participants, rather than smaller chamber music/jazz combo groups. The entry fees for the KBBMF Fringe Festival are the same as for the KBB Music Festival.
